Cleo and Cornelius

Co-authored with Elizabeth Nicholson and Nick Geller
Illustrated by Michelle Thies

A tale of two cities and two kitties. Two very different cat cousins explore two very unique ancient cultures as they embark on two very unexpected adventures. Cleo and Cornelius were born in Ancient Egypt, where cats were beloved and pampered. But Cleo is bored out of her fur, while Cornelius can’t get enough of plush palace life. After the scent of fish lures Cornelius onto a ship, he accidently sets sail for Rome! Brave Cleo journeys after him. Soon both cats discover the wonders of Ancient Egypt and Rome, along with the joys of their individual purr-fect home sweet home. Loosely based on the fable, “The Town Mouse and the Country Mouse,” originated by the Greek storyteller Aesop, Cleo and Cornelius is published in correlation with the exhibition Beyond the Nile: Egypt and the Classical World, which runs from March 27 – September 9, 2018 at the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles.

Cleo and Cornelius is published by Getty Publications and distributed in North America by ABRAMS. (Distributed outside North America by Yale University Press, London.)

Cleo and Cornelius is available now from Getty Publications and can be pre-ordered on Amazon for an August 2018 release.
